With Memorial Day this weekend I found it only fitting to remember those who have died fighting for our country.
I remember as a child hearing my Grandma talk about her best friends brother who was shot down during WWII. He was never found. He was never returned and it was devastating. Thankfully our family has been blessed to have our loved ones return home. Some with purple hearts but they returned. My Great Grandpa, Wilford Burnette, was one such man. He served proudly in the European Theater, received two Purple Hearts for his sacrifices. He returned to his family and lived a long and happy life. My Grandpa, John Lewis, served in Germany and returned home safely and went on to live a long and prosperous life as well. But many never make it back home and those are the men and women we need to remember this Memorial Day weekend. Let the focus be on those who fought and died for our freedom and less about what you want to barbeque. After all without the sacrifices made by these brave men and women we would not enjoy such freedoms.
Hope you have a beautiful Wednesday. Take a moment to remember this weekend and say Thank you in your own way.
God Bless America and all those who have served to protect her.
