For me, there is something so magical that happens when I gaze at the night stars. Endless possibilities are opened and I love how even a quick glance up sets my imagination free and fills me with such wonder. It gives perspective. Tiny me - BIG BIG WORLD.
I remember the night skies of summer in the Blue Ridge Mountains were star studded. I mean stars upon stars and on most nights the Milky Way was beautifully stretched across the far open sky. These are the nights I remember gazing up at with my Mom. We would try to pick out constellations. On nights where the moon was big and bright we would peek at the moon with her telescope. Mom didn't have a fancy telescope but it worked great for getting a closer look at the heavens. I remember when she put the solar lens on her telescope and we looked at the sun. I was kind of scared to look threw the lens because I thought it would burn my eye ball out but she assured me we would be fine to take a quick peek. I will never forget seeing solar flares leaping off of the suns surface. It was such an incredible sight to be able to stand on Earth and see something happening so far away. And to experience this with my Mom was priceless. Because of her love of the heavens and knowledge of the night sky I still love it today. I hope I have passed on that love to my own children.
Hope you have a beautiful day today and a star studded night. Close today with a quick glance to the heavens and let your imagination soar.
